Former Westport Little League official Kevin Hlavac accused of embezzling from league

A former official with the Westport Little League has been arrested for allegedly embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from the league.
Westport police say Kevin Hlavac, 39, stole more than $40,000 in money and equipment over the course of last season. He allegedly submitted invoices and was reimbursed for equipment that never arrived. He allegedly claimed he was hosting baseball clinics for children.
The chairman of the Westport Baseball and Softball League Board of Directors says they noticed a problem during an audit and contacted police. He added Hlavac once served on the board as the vice president of Little League Baseball.
The investigation began in March and police say Hlavac turned himself in last night. Hlavac has been charged with larceny and is due in court next Thursday.
