Norwalk firemen offer tips to ensure holiday decorations don't become hazards

The Norwalk Fire Department reminds residents to keep safety in mind when decorating for the holiday.Christmas trees are an essential decoration for many families during the holidays. The Norwalk fire marshal says there are a few precautions that can be taken to ensure decorations don?t become a danger to families. The Norwalk Fire Department says it is important to make sure the tree does not become dry. Checking the needles to make sure they don?t fall off is an easy way to ensure the tree is moist.They also advise residents to keep a tree for only about 10 days and to make sure to turn off all lights when leaving the house or going to bed.
