Families across Connecticut took advantage of a mild Saturday and headed out to buy their Christmas trees.
Managers at Silverman?s Farm in Easton say they will sell at least 3,000 trees in one month. Shoppers told News 12 Connecticut they look for trees that hold up ornaments well and stand at least seven feet tall. Silverman?s workers say the Fraser Fir is, by far, the most popular species.
The National Christmas Tree Association estimates nearly 31 million Americans will opt for live trees this year. The organization recommends keeping trees in water and using low-heat miniature bulbs to prevent drying.
