A Stratford woman braved oncoming traffic in an attempt to save her dog after it was hit by a speeding driver, which she says is typical for that road.Lupe Rodriquez walks her dogs every day along Ferry Boulevard in Stratford. She says the posted speed limit along the road of 35 miles per hour is never enforced. That is why she always takes extra precautions by wearing a reflective vest and carrying a flashlight. However, Rodriquez?s cautions didn?t help Wednesday when her 5-year-old miniature pincher Chico was hit and killed by a car. She estimates the driver was going at least 60 miles an hour. Now, Rodriquez says something has to be done before someone else is hurt.Town leaders say they are aware of the speeding on Ferry Boulevard. Mayor James Miron says he is optimistic that the City Council will approve a budget that would allow the police department to implement a traffic squad in the area. Rodriquez says she wants to see Ferry Blvd become a speed trap instead of a speedway.
