Fears of violence at Westhill High School keep many students home
Fears of violence prompted many Westhill High school students to stay home from school on Friday.
A Stamford High student, Flanegaine Joseph, 19, was shot and killed Saturday night. After the shooting, students at Westhill High School say rumors started that friends of the slain teen were out for revenge. It turned out to be just that, a rumor.
Friday came and went at Westhill without incident, but many students say they are still worried. In response, police say they are increasing the number of officers on patrol and investigating an ongoing turf war between teens from the Merrill Avenue housing complex and teens from Southwoods Square.
