Fairfield father sues FedEx after employee allegedly molested son

? A Fairfield couple has filed a lawsuit against FedEx, claiming the shipping company did not properly conduct a background check on an employee who allegedly molested their son.

The family?s attorney, Neal Rogan, says Bethel resident Paul Sykes, 36, worked in a FedEx Kinko?s in Fairfield and was soliciting customers door-to-door in September for his own computer repair business. Rogan claims that?s how Sykes manipulated his way into the alleged victim?s home and distracted the parents. The boy's mother says she walked in on Sykes molesting the 8-year-old. Legal documents show Sykes has multiple child molestation convictions. Rogan claims an Internet search on Google also shows the convictions.

FedEx claims a background check did not turn up any problems. The company has since fired Sykes. He is charged with sexual assault and is being held on $250,000 bond.
