Bridgeport police arrest man suspected of shooting officer

Bridgeport police say the man who shot one of their own at the P-T Barnum Housing Complex is now behind bars.

Police say they couldn't be happier to now have 35-year-old Tary McCrary behind bars. They've been looking for him since Wednesday night, that's when Bridgeport Police Officer Hugh Tobin was shot in the upper thigh while patrolling the P-T Barnum Housing Complex. Police say McCrary is responsible.

A number of different agencies helped Bridgeport police in apprehending McCrary including the U.S. Marshal's Office and the FBI.

Police say they spotted McCrary Friday afternoon in downtown Stamford and arrested him with no problems.

Officer Tobin was released from the hospital and is now resting at home McCrary will likely be arraigned Tuesday on five felony charges, including attempted murder.
