Another accident has Milford residents calling Welch's Point Rd. a 'death trap'

An 81-year-old Milford woman is recovering Wednesday after being hospitalized following a hit-and-run accident in her own neighborhood. And neighbors say they've been complaining for years that the road is a death trap, but claim police and the mayor have done nothing.Ruth Smith was walking home crossing Welch's Point Road when police say a young man speeding in a four-door blue sedan possibly hit her, and just kept driving.Parents like Shannon Benson, who resides on Welch's Point Road, say this accident is a wake up call for the city to stop drivers from going 60 miles per hour in this 25 mph zone.Meanwhile, police say the street has few accidents and they have only received one complaint in six months.
