Daring rescue in Redding saves 23-year-old hiker

It took a daring rescue to save a 23-year-old hiker after she fell off a forty-foot cliff in Redding. The woman was hiking with a friend in the Devil's Den Nature Preserve when the accident occurred along the Weston-Redding border.

Firefighters say the woman's friend ran to the road and flagged down a car for help. Emergency crews from Weston, Redding and Georgetown had to hike a mile into the woods to rescue the woman. Although it was dark out the crews managed to find the woman and carry her back to safety. The woman was taken to Danbury Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Route 53 was shut down during the rescue effort, which took about two and a half hours.
