Man fatally shot while sitting in his car in Norwalk

Police in Norwalk are investigating the city's first murder of 2003. Authorities say 42-year-old Reginald Gay was shot while sitting in a car on Chestnut Street. Gay was in the parked car with 46-year-old Venessa Newell, who was also shot. Newell was able to walk to a nearby taxi company where she was taken to the hospital.

Police would not comment on a motive or their search for a suspect. People who live in the area say the section is known for drug activity.Anyone with information on the murder is asked to call Norwalk detectives at (203) 854-3011 or Detective Jay Allgood at (203) 854-3034 .
