Fire in Bridgeport leaves 24 people homeless

Two dozen people are left homeless and three businesses were destroyed after an early Saturday morning fire in Bridgeport.

The fast moving fire engulfed the entire building at 965 State Street in Bridgeport, causing an estimated $225,000 in damage.

No one was killed in the fire, but one of the 24 residents of the complex did sustain first and second degree burns to his arm. Two police officers and a firefighter suffered minor injuries.

As for a cause, officials say it appears to have begun in the Chinese food restaurant. Bridgeport's Fire Department says an arson investigation is now underway.
