Families mourn loss of two Norwalk friends to boating accident

Family and friends are mourning the loss of two Norwalk fishermen who died after a boating accident on the Long Island Sound Wednesday. The boat that victims and friends Albert Carter, 69, and Harrison Haygood Senior, 73, were in overturned off Guilford, off Faulkner's Island. One of the men was able to call 911 from a cell phone but by the time rescue crews arrived, the two men were in the water. Rescue workers pulled Carter from the water and performed CPR on him but he died later at Yale New Haven Hospital. Haygood was recovered 45 minutes later and pronounced dead on the scene. Harrison Haygood Junior says the family is trying to come to terms with their loss. But he says the close-knit bond between the six children, 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren will get them through. Plus knowing his last moments were shared with a good friend, doing what they loved most, helps.
