Pataki says energy department OKs continued access to Cross Sound Cable

New York Governor George Pataki announced Thursday that the U.S. Department of Energy will allow the Cross Sound Cable to continue to carry electricity from New Haven to Long Island. The cable was activated on an emergency basis following the blackout earlier this month. Since then the state has fought to have it taken off line because it is not buried deep enough in several spots beneath Long Island Sound.
