Two Norwalk men die in boating accident

Two Norwalk fishermen are dead after a boating accident on the Long Island Sound Wednesday. Guilford police have identified the victims as 69-year-old Albert Carter of Scribner Avenue and 73-year-old Harrison Haygood Senior of Ivy Street. Police say the accident happened off the coast of Guilford near Faulkner's Island. The boat the two men were in reportedly starting taking on water. One of the men was able to call 911 from a cell phone but by the time rescue crews arrived, the two men were in the water. Rescue workers pulled Carter from the water and performed CPR on him but he died later at Yale New Haven Hospital. Haygood was recovered 45 minutes later and pronounced dead on the scene. Dockworkers say the two men were regular fishermen in the area.
