Drinking water near Milford Power Plant tests positive for contamination

Tests of drinking water near the Milford Power Plant have come back positive for contamination. Five wells were tested earlier this week, and three contained contaminants above the safe drinking level. The two businesses and one home have been notified of the contamination. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is providing them with bottled water for the time being and the DEP is coming up with a way to get them into the public water system. Now Milford stage legislators are calling for immediate action and a full investigation into what went wrong.Milford has planned a public meeting at City Hall on September 15 to inform the public as to what caused the contamination and where it is located.
