CT services planned for 9/11 anniversary

(08/11/03) WESTPORT - With the second anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks just a month away, local officials and churches are planning memorial services to mark the day.

Last year, Governor John Rowland (R-CT) presided at a ceremony unveiling the first phase of the official state monument to Connecticut's 9-11 victims. The governor will return to Sherwood Island on September 4 for the dedication of Phase Two, granite blocks bearing the names of the Connecticut victims.

Catholic Bishop William Lori will conduct a memorial Mass at noon on September 11th at St. Augustine's Cathedral in Bridgeport. Bishop Lori will also conduct a Blue Mass at 2:30 p.m. on September 7 at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Trumbull.
