Ordinance hurts Milford adult businesses

(08/04/03) MILFORD - On Monday night, the Board of Aldermen in the city of Milford unanimously passed an ordinance severely restricting the city's adult entertainment business.

The newly passed ordinance outlaws nudity, and touching between patrons and entertainers. Dancers must now be on a stage with a separation between customers of no less than two feet.

Milford's only strip club, Keepers, has until December 31 to install a stage. The other businesses in town will have to comply with the new ordinance when they attempt to renew their license.

An attorney representing all of the adult entertainment businesses in town will file a lawsuit looking to find the new laws unconstitutional and have them overturned.
