Back-to-school rush hits Norwalk stores
(07/28/03) NORWALK - From back-to-school coupons in Connecticut papers this past weekend to all the back-to-school specials in the stores, there's no way of escaping the fact that a new school year is a little more than one month away.
Stores like Walmart in Norwalk have been in the back-to-school spirit for nearly two weeks and sales are up 40 percent in the stationery department. Students are also checking out some bigger ticket items like microwaves, mini refrigerators and bedding.
Many stores hope soon-to-be-delivered tax rebate checks will get more people in the spending mood.
