Norwalk solider returns home

(07/26/03) NORWALK - Private Derek Brookshire was the toast of the town Saturday as he returned home after spending three months in Iraq.

Derek was in the infantry, and although he never fired any shots, he did come under fire one night.

He had a welcome home party Saturday where Stew Leonard donated his favorite food, a lobster weighing 15 pounds.

Derek brought back Iraqi money to show his friends how different it is. He also said he is a different person than a year ago when he graduated high school.

Derek's father said the homecoming was as exciting as the day Derek was born.
