New health director named for Stamford

(07/26/03) STAMFORD - A month after Dr. Anthony Iton announced he would resign to take a new job in California, a new health director has been chosen for Stamford.

Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy introduced Dr. Johnnie Lee at the government center Saturday morning. Lee has a decade of experience as a physician and has held several key leadership positions in public health.

The 40-year-old Wilton resident said that one of his top priorities will be to improve Stamford's already strong prevention programs.

Lee is currently the medical director for a New York City primary care medical practice and an assistant professor at Columbia University.
