Yale-New Haven gets national praise
(07/21/03) NEW HAVEN - The national spotlight shines on Yale-New Haven Hospital as the U.S. News and World Report has recognized it in more categories of care than all but one other hospital in the country. And the hospital ranks seventh in the country when it comes to caring for the elderly.
Yale-New Haven Hospital's Dr. Leo Cooney has been treating geriatric patients for 27 years and he says the job has not gotten old. He says it is quite exciting, not just because people are living longer, but he says because they're functioning better in old age.
The only other southwestern Connecticut hospital to make the list was Danbury Hospital, for its urology department.
