Bridgeport charity program in danger
(07/18/03) BRIDGEPORT - The group called "Night Runners," which has provided food and services to the Bridgeport community for close to ten years, may be forced to close shop due to lack of donations.
"Night Runners" is a small Christian ministry. It's a unique organization that operates out of a camper and a trailer. They drive into some of the neediest neighborhoods and set up shop. Everything is donated, but recently those donations are dwindling.
Gilbert Abrueo founded the program nine years ago. The goal was to give people a hot meal, some food to take home and let them know about jobs and other programs to help them get off the streets.
Abrueo says the outreach scheduled for July 31 could be the last in Bridgeport if they don't get funding soon. If you would like to help "Night Runners," click here or call 203-330-1805.
