Sikorsky Aircraft to get 36 helicopters

(07/18/03) STRATFORD - Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft expects to see some big money after the U.S. Senate unanimously approved a $368 billion defense-spending bill Thursday.

Earlier this month the Senate Appropriations Committee agreed that if the bill passed, Sikorsky could purchase 36 additional helicopters. Sikorsky Aircraft is home to both the Army Black Hawk and the Navy Sea Hawk helicopters.

While the new defense spending bill is $3 billion below President Bush's budget request, Congress says it will make up the difference with other sources.
