Bpt. zoo victim of state budget crisis

(07/15/03) BRIDGEPORT - A popular family fun spot is falling victim to the state budget crisis. The Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport is losing nearly a half a million dollars in state funds as Governor Rowland (R-CT) tries to keep the central services running through the state.

But Beardsley Zoo Director Gregg Dancho says the zoo has a healthy bottom line and enough funding for at least six months. Dancho also say there are no plans to raise admission prices, so it will still costs $7 for adults and $5 for kids to be admitted to the zoo.

The zoo will be 81 years old this year and everyone News 12 Connecticut spoke with looks forward to plenty of anniversaries to come.
