Tough new baggage rules at airports

(01/02/03) HARRISON - With the new year came some changes at airports across the country. The federal mandate to check every bag took effect one minute after midnight Wednesday morning.

Flying out of Westchester County airport has changed. Every bag is now brushed with a sensor designed to detect trace elements of explosives. If the initial screening sets off an alarm, the screener goes to the next step where the bag is opened.

To keep the process moving the screeners inspect the bags as you're at the counter.
