The Weston Little League is honoring the memory of a player who died in a bicycle accident last year.
The league is dedicating the new lights and scorer's box on one of the fields at Bisceglie Scribner Park in A.J. Cina's memory.
Cina, 12, was playing on the field on Newtown Turnpike just weeks before his death last summer. He lost control of his bike and crashed while not wearing a helmet in July 2013.
Cina's best friend Derek Hassan says the lights on the field are a really special thing. Derek's father Rich says A.J.'s impact will now always be felt.
Weston Little League retired A.J.'s number 4, which now hangs in the outfield. His friends also started a foundation to honor his memory and his love of sports. It provides equipment and renovates fields or courts in underprivileged areas.
Little Leaguers will play their first game under the lights on Friday.
