A fire damaged a boat docked on land at Captain Cove's Seaport in Bridgeport early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters say no one was hurt in the fire, which sparked just after 2 a.m. The fire did not spread to neighboring boats, but the flames damaged the boat's masts and cabin.
Bruce Williams, vice president of the Captain's Cove Seaport, says the 60-foot schooner named Isaac Webb was days away from setting sail for the first time this season. It had been docked at the marina for the past few years.
The owner of the boat lives in Massachusetts and told News 12 Connecticut over the phone that he had been doing charter trips on the boat for decades. He says he is devastated by the fire.
