Bridgeport's Pleasure Beach to reopen for the first time since a fire in 1996

Bridgeport will open access to Pleasure Beach Saturday for the first time in almost 20 years.
The beach has been closed since 1996, when a fire destroyed the bridge connecting the beach to the mainland. The city will offer free water taxi service from Seaview Avenue. Coolers are permitted at the beach, but alcohol is not allowed.
Among the patrons looking forward to the beach reopening are twin brothers Joe and Jack Kochiss. The 87-year-old say they used to spend summers at the beach at the cottage their father built back in 1921.
Pleasure Beach will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week.
