Police: Female jogger attacked Sunday night on Old Saugatuck Road in Norwalk

Norwalk police say they're searching for a man who attacked a female jogger on Old Saugatuck Road near the Shorehaven Country Club Sunday night.

Police say a 35-year old Norwalk woman was jogging down Old Saugatuck Road just before 10 p.m. when a man jumped out from behind a bush and physically assaulted her.

Police say the jogger fought the attacker and got away with minor injuries. Sgt. Terry Blake said the victim did the right thing by defending herself.

"You don't give up. You fight. She fought through it and was able to free herself and run for safety," he said.

Authorities are considering the incident a random act. Police say their investigation into the attack in ongoing.
