What's Ailing You: Gluten-free diets
This week, News 12 Connecticut's What's Ailing You looks at why an increasing number of people have shifted to gluten-free diets.
More and more people are eliminating gluten by not eating wheat, barley or rye. 203 Urgent Care's Dr. Sonia Bisaccia says people who have tested positive for celiac disease need to steer clear of gluten to avoid damaging inflammation in their small intestines.
Dr. Bisaccia says there is no conclusive medical research on non-celiac gluten sensitivity. However, she says many patients that opt to go gluten-free have rid themselves of nightmare digestion problems.
