Special performance rally held to support renovation of Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford

Supporters of the old Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford hosted a special performance Friday outside the theater.
The goal of the performance was to raise awareness and support for the theater's restoration, which could come soon.
Plans to refurbish the 1,500-seat theater have been pitched for years, but none have gotten the town's approval.
The group that held the rally performance outside the theater hopes that their plan will be given the go-ahead. They say they have financial support from national and international Shakespeare organizations.
Both the building plan and the one to pay for it must be approved by the town, which owns the theater. Officials have yet to take up a vote on if they will approve any plans that will be pitched.
