Jairo Gutierrez-Lopez, wanted for attempted murder in Maryland, arrested in Weston

A man wanted for attempted murder in Maryland has been arrested after allegedly fleeing to southwestern Connecticut.
Police say Jairo Gutierrez-Lopez, 26, choked a woman at his home in Beltsville, Maryland. When another woman went to help the victim, he allegedly stabbed her multiple times. Gutierrez-Lopez then allegedly fled to Connecticut. Police say they were able to track him through his cellphone.
Gutierrez-Lopez had allegedly been staying with a friend in Stamford and even got a job as a painter. He was arrested at a house on Woods End Lane in Weston, where he was working.
Gutierrez-Lopez said in court that he agreed to go back to Maryland and face the charges. He is being held on a $1 million bond.
