Bridgeport police hold gun buyback event
Bridgeport police held gun buyback event today in an effort to get firearms off the streets of Connecticut.
Police say were offering up to $200 for working handguns, up to $100 for rifles and up to $400 for assault rifles.
Organizers say people were able to turn in their guns anonymously, with no questions asked.
Police say this is the first time they've held a gun buyback event in the community, and so far nearly a thousand guns have been turned in.
