Dennis Berrios arrested in hit-and-run death of Tyron Tate

A man faces charges in a hit-and-run that killed a friend of his in Bridgeport over the weekend.

Police say 36-year-old Dennis Berrios hit Tyron Tate, of Bridgeport, Saturday night on the 600-block of Noble Avenue and then left the scene of the accident.

Tate's family members say the 21-year-old was friends with Berrios for the past four years. His mother says she is outraged that Berrios is out on bond after being charged in a hit-and-run.

The suspect has been in trouble with the law before. Police say Berrios was previously charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after smashing six car windows.

Berrios will be in court for his new charges next Friday

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed.
