State officials say mosquitoes trapped in Stamford and Norwalk tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The mosquitoes were trapped at Sleepy Hollow Park, Cranbury Park in Norwalk and in a wooded area on Intervale Road in Stamford.
Mosquitoes that tested positive for the virus have also been trapped in Bridgeport, Stratford and Danbury.
Officials say they've trapped fewer mosquitoes with the virus this year than last year. They say the cold winter and the dry weather this summer have led to fewer mosquitoes overall.
Officials say the risk of contracting the virus is low this year. People should still take precautions to protect themselves, however.
Officials say there haven't been any human cases of the virus yet this year. The virus causes flu-like symptoms.
