New Bridgeport app to help residents report problems
Bridgeport unveiled a new app Friday to help residents report emergency road conditions and problems this winter.
The app is called BConnected.
Officials say it will allow residents to report everything from an unplowed street to icy road conditions that need attention as quickly as possible. Parking violations and criminal activity can also be reported.
Public Facilities Director Jorge Garcia demonstrated the app by reporting an icy area in downtown Bridgeport that needed to be treated.
He showed spectators how BConnected tells you exactly where you are and allows you to take a picture of the problem that you are reporting. A few minutes later, a road crew that received the report showed up, and plowed and treated the area.
Officials say the response time range from minutes for emergency alerts to less than a day for other problems. They say, however, that the app is not a replacement for 911.
