Charity program gives kids a shot at playing golf

A charity gave some Bridgeport kids a shot at playing golf Wednesday at the Longshore Golf Course in Westport.

Organizers say that some parents do not have the extra income to spend on after-school activities, and the Golf 2 Give program fills that void.

The charity was started by Staples High School junior and golf player Sophie Carozza. She says lessons learned on the green can carry over to real life, such as determination, focus and patience.

Golf 2 Give says that as of now, Longshore is the only course donating its space, with hopefully more to follow.
