Community raises money for woman paralyzed in crash

The Bridgeport community gathered Wednesday night to raise money for a woman who was left paralyzed by a car crash.

The crowd came out to La Familia Vincenzo Restaurant in Milford to support 24-year-old Ty Hennegan, of Bridgeport. On March 23, Hennegan was involved in a crash in Georgia while on her way to Florida. She's now paralyzed from the neck down.

Hennegan has been in a Savannah, Georgia, hospital since the crash. Her family is trying to raise money to have her airlifted back to Connecticut for rehabilitation.

The family is hoping Hennegan can get more care at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford and possibly be able to walk again in two years.

As of Wednesday afternoon, a GoFundMe page for Hennegan had raised nearly $3,000.
