Wilton hiking trail closed after coyote incident

Police closed the Norwalk River Valley Trail after an incident Sunday involving a dog and a coyote.

Officials say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. Saturday on Loop South of Sharp Hill Road in Wilton.

Officials say the leashed dog broke free of its owner and went after the coyote.

They say the dog wasn't injured but the trail is closed until it's deemed safe.

It's unclear whether or not the animal had rabies.

Some hikers claim people are over reacting saying wildlife is a part of Fairfield County.
