Stamford Police Department welcomes 10 new officers

The Stamford Police Department held a swearing-in ceremony Thursday morning, welcoming 10 new officers to the police force.

Officials tell News 12 that the recruits had to pass a background screening, a physical test and complete psychological and medical exams prior to the swearing in.

Stamford Mayor David Martin told the new officers and their families that safety for them and within the city is a top priority.

News 12 is told the new officers will attend a six-month physical training program and then work with field training officers for 12 weeks.
