Teen dies after SUV falls from car jack

The Newtown community is mourning the loss of a young man who was killed in a tragic accident while working on his SUV Sunday.

Police say 19-year-old Ryan Fetchick died when the jack he was using gave way, sending his car rolling over him.

News 12 is told Fetchick graduated from Newtown High School last June and spent the last four years working at Route 25 Powersports in Monroe. He raced motorcycles every weekend.

Fetchick's boss, Rick Erickson, described Fetchick as hardworking with a big heart. He says that while his personality was shy, Fetchick was ferocious on a motorcycle.

"He was a true mechanic through and through," he said.

Friends and family have launched a fundraising effort to assist with funeral and burial arrangements.

Fetchick's funeral is set for this Sunday.
