Police: Car catches fire at Fairfield gas station

Police say no one was injured after a car caught fire early Sunday at a Fairfield gas station.

Officials say the driver pulled up to a Cumberland Farms gas station near Kings Highway around 5 a.m. after noticing smoke coming from his car.

An attendant at the gas station called the police and fire departments, and then turned on extinguishers attached to the gas pumps, according to officers.

Police suggest that drivers should stop somewhere other than a gas station if they are in a similar situation, if possible.

The fire department is investigating what caused the car to catch fire.
