Bridgeport officials step up security at complex after pipes stolen

Bridgeport leaders say they've stepped up security at a Bridgeport housing complex after the theft of copper pipes led to a water outage there.

Nearly 40 families at the Marina Village Housing Complex on Iranistan Avenue were without water for a period of about three days after the thieves entered several vacant buildings in the complex and stole the pipes.

The president of the complex, Denese Taylor Moye, says she worked closely with the city's housing authority to get crews to replace the copper pipes that were stolen.

She says her goal now is to get high fences put up around the vacant buildings until they can ultimately be demolished.
