AAA: Gas prices to rise starting next month

Gas prices are likely to increase heading into the spring and summer months, according to AAA.

The organization says residents could be paying 40 cents a gallon more this summer.

At a Global station in Norwalk, people are paying $2.29 for regular unleaded, and the price has been even higher in other areas.

Experts say a healthier economy is driving up prices. Typically, they say they'd expect to see prices going up by 10 to 15 cents a gallon, not 40.

AAA says gas prices peaked in Connecticut in 2008 at more than $4 a gallon.
