Monroe dance show to benefit nonprofit
Dancers at Connecticut Dance in Monroe are kicking up support for their community with a benefit performance to raise money for a local nonprofit.
Proceeds from the performance at Staples Elementary School in Easton will go to Brady's Smile, which provides comfort bags -- stocked with things like Chapstick, notepads and puzzle books -- to children's hospitals.
Annie Hinton and her husband founded the nonprofit when their son died on his second birthday in 2008.
"He had problems with every major system in his body," Hinton says. "Everything just seemed to come down on this kid."
Despite countless visits to the hospital, Brady always wore an infectious smile, his mother says.
"Knowing that I can do what I love and help raise money and awareness for this great organization means so much," says Diana, one of the dancers.
