Man with autism keeps score for high school wrestlers
A Greenwich man has the been a fixture of a local sports team for years despite not being an athlete.
Cameron Kirk handles the scoring numbers for the wrestling team at Greenwich High School. It's the 22-year-old's seventh year in the position.
"I feel excited and included," says Kirk, who has autism.
His interest in wrestling began in junior high when he would watch his older sister's friends on the team. When Kirk got to high school, the coach at the time asked if he wanted to man the scoreboard.
Kirk stayed on after graduating, and although he may not wear a uniform, he still belongs with the team.
Kirk's mother says that although the family is considering a move to Ridgefield, he still hopes to return to the team next season.
