Bridgeport police make arrest in fatal Father's Day crash

Bridgeport police arrested a man Wednesday in connection with a fatal crash last Father's Day.

The collision occurred June 19 at the corner of Main Street and Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport.

Police say 63-year-old David Henshaw told investigators that he was on his way to buy cigarettes when the car he was driving around 100 mph crashed into another car, killing 31-year-old Petey Soto, of Stamford.

Police Chief AJ Perez says Soto was coming home from work on Father's Day when his vehicle was cut in half by the impact. Henshaw's car landed upside down, and police say he was seriously hurt.

Police say the mother of Soto's two children, 26-year-old Elianna Cruz, was later shot to death in Bridgeport, leaving the kids orphaned.

Henshaw will appear in court Tuesday on charges of second-degree manslaughter and misconduct with a motor vehicle.
