Norwalk police issue warning on distraction burglaries

Police are warning the Norwalk community after multiple distraction-style burglaries have been reported.

They say they're searching for a woman and two men believed to be in their 40s, who appear to be posing as utility workers.

Police believe the team is responsible for two distraction burglaries that occurred within half-hour of each other in West Norwalk Friday afternoon. They say in both cases, the woman approached the home in a reflective vest and said she was there because of a gas leak or water leak.

Officials tell News 12 that while the woman distracted the person, one of the men went into the victim's house and stole cash. They say $2,500 was taken in one case, while $1,000 was stolen in another.

Police say they are reminding people to ask for identification before letting anyone inside their home.

They also say these suspects are in a gray or silver Chevy Equinox.
