Eighth-grader gives back to children with cancer

A local eighth-grade girl is going out of her way to help children with cancer.

Grace Targonski, of Stamford, fed about 30 people Tuesday night at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven.

The event is part of her "Day of Kindness" program. Targonski started her charity, "Caring with Grace," in 2014 to help children with cancer after seeing her aunt go through treatments.

"It makes me feel good knowing that they like it and they enjoy how I'm able to help them," Targonski says.

Chef Luciane Velinski from Station House Bar and Grille in Norwalk cooked the night's meal, which included prime rib, pasta, salad and wings.

In addition to the meals, there was also live music. Targonski says she brought gifts to the children who attended.
