Norwalk PD: Suspicious container in parking lot deemed harmless

Norwalk police say a suspicious container that caused a bomb scare Monday night at a busy shopping plaza was harmless.

Officials blocked off the Stop and Shop parking lot on Main Avenue while the Stamford bomb squad responded to the scene.

Police say a woman reported seeing someone put a metal container with duct tape on the ground before walking away. Officials found an unknown liquid inside of the container. It is currently being tested.

It is unknown whether the pot was accidentally left behind. Police say they will review any surveillance video available.
